Sorry kids. I meant to have this up last week, but I got remarkably sidetracked. At any rate, I'd like to take some time to reflect on the awesomeness that was the Midwest...I'm not going to say the entire title, but ya know, that conference.
I don't know about anybody else, but I had a blast. It was so awesome to be in a room with so many like-minded people. Even though I'm "just" an ally, it felt like I was at home. The entire experience was definitely worthwhile in my opinion, and I can't wait for next year's conference.
One of my favorite parts of the conference was a workshop I attended about being an ally. It was interesting to hear what members of the GLBT community thought about allies. It was also nice to interact with other allies. The workshop gave me a lot to think about. For example, some allies worry about "overstepping their bounds" because it's technically not their fight. And some GLBT people agreed that they didn't want allies to "take over." I'd never really thought about like this. I mean, as far as I can tell, this fight is everyone's fight because it's not just about GLBT rights, it's about human rights (though this could just be because I'm the crusading type ;-P). What do you guys think? Thoughts?

Hey, we need as many people as we can get fighting the good fight, regardless of their identity. And plus, straight people could never "take over" the gay community-not enough of them like us for that =P
